| Vegi Baked Beans This recipe is best if made using dried beans, soaked overnight in water, the old fashioned way. A simpler method, using well rinsed and drained canned beans is almost as good. Actually, some say these beans are perfect! |

| Ingredients 2 cans (16oz. ea..) Great Northern Beans 1 can (16 oz.) large Butter Beans ½ cup onions, finely chopped ½ cup tofu, diced small ¾ cup ketchup ¼ cup molasses ½ - 1 cup dark brown sugar (to taste) 2-3 dashes garlic salt (optional) |
Preparation Rinse thoroughly and drain beans in colander. Place in large casserole or baking dish. Add onions, tofu, ketchup and molasses. Mix ingredients well, stirring in brown sugar and garlic salt. Bake in oven at 300 degrees for one hour or until thick and bubbly. Remove from oven, top with small amount of ketchup and brown sugar, return to oven. Bake several minutes more until top darkens. Yield 8-10 servings. Double recipe for parties or picnics. Expect people to gobble these up. |

| Serving suggestion - Great for picnics & parties. Serve with vegetarian hot dogs on whole wheat buns or cut-up cooked hot dos and add to Vegi Baked Beans for old fashioned "beans & weenies" |
